JOHN B. LACSON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION, INC. , is a pioneer institution in maritime education. Since its establishment in 1948, John B. Lacson UNIVERSITY Foundation, Inc., then Iloilo Maritime Academy and all its units have gone a long way.

JOHN B. LACSON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION INC., holds international accreditation as certified by D er N orske V eritas (DNV) of Norway for its Quality Assurance System- The first in the Philippines, Second in Asia and Third in the world to have such a destinction. The JBLCF Training center is the third in the Philippines and fourth in the world to be certified by DNV. JOHN B. LACSON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION, INC., It is the first school to attain Level III Accredited status for Maritime education. Recently, JBLCF is one of the top Maritime schools certified by the commission on Higher Education for complying with the requirements of the standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) . It is also the first and only school in the Philippines with a maritime high school.

In recognition of its outstanding and meritorious achievements of higher education particularly in the field of Maritime Education, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted the school, FULL AUTONOMY STATUS , thus making her as one of the 30 higher institutions of learning in the Philippines, to have such a destinction.

Recently, the school has passed the Level III Re-accreditation by PACU-COA , a feat which no other maritime school has attained so far.

JBLCF is now working towards the attainment of being one of the Centers of Excellence (CENTREX) in the country. All these speaks of JBLCF, in its commitment and the fulfillment of its mission-vision statement and objectives.
